Senior Architect

THE POSITION

The senior architect will join the Architecture and Technology team providing architecture and technology guidance to both project delivery teams as they develop client solutions. This position will involve in many projects, both big and small, across all lines of business.

The senior architect also provides expertise and counsel; ensuring technology teams and business areas understand the architectural options and technology choices in support of their business.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:

• Participating in creation and maintenance of architectural standards, practices and policies
• Develops high-level solution designs compliant with target architectures and standards for their specific domain of expertise to support the end-to-end business solutions
• Promotes reuse of existing domain services and the standardization of domain service offerings.
• Produces orders of magnitude estimate efforts both one-time and ongoing
• Recommends domain design solutions to business needs and perform QA
• Defines the business implications of technology decisions
• Adheres to The Client and industry best practices and standards for the domain of expertise
• Takes full accountability for the domain elements of the solution
• Create reference designs for use by Solution Architects
• Design system infrastructure to meet project requirements and observe corporate technology standards
• Work with developers and engineers to ensure appropriate architectural governance is applied
• Estimate infrastructure costs and schedule at the concept stage
• Work with vendors to ensure proper specification of hardware and software
• Maintain high level of expertise in infrastructure technologies
• Work with other architects in Infrastructure Architecture; Strategy and Planning; Quality Assurance and Standards; and Business Architecture groups
  

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficient in designing and/or building infrastructures that support systems which are highly secure, highly available and highly performing.
• In-depth experience with the following technologies:
• Windows (Server products, Active Directory)
• Databases (SQL Server, Oracle)
• Middleware / Application Platform (.NET Framework, Microsoft Application Platform Families-BizTalk, SharePoint …  )
• Proven technical team leadership, with a focus on service delivery

AS A SENIOR ARCHITECT

• Expert knowledge of broad scope of architecture, technology, tools, processes and procedures, as well as broader organization issues and technology
• Advanced and specialized knowledge of industry best practices, programming languages, business/organization, infrastructure, architecture and technology in related areas from an architectural design/solutions perspective
• Ability to work autonomously on highly complex and diverse projects/ issues as an architecture specialist
• Ability to oversee other architects and IT professionals on complex, highly-visible architecture projects Future-focused, providing thought leadership
• Excellent communication, negotiation and organizational skills specifically including the ability to present architectural options in business terms to both IT and business staff including executives

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / ACCREDITATIONS

• University or College degree - or relevant work experience

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary range: Salary range to be based on specific job knowledge. Fulltime hires will be eligible to participate in our generous employee profit sharing plan with semi-annual bonuses in the 10-15% range, based on performance.
