Besides traveling to New York and keeping a pulse on all things media, the team will act as an extension to the New York Digital Team and will play a critical part in the support and maintenance of various systems that supports our client's digital efforts in delivering the most popular television, sports and movie content today.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Team Lead, Digital Media Delivery Operations, the Digital Media Delivery Operations Associate is responsible for the monitoring and proper operation of the day to day transcoding and streaming infrastructure at Navantis and our client. Your work will have an immediate impact to the viewer experience at our client's growing Internet Consumer Population, and will involve keeping operations running on a large network involving multiple publishing channels. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of networking technologies. Enthusiastic about digital video concepts, including standard video aspect ratios, frame rates, and key frames. Members of this operations team will be monitoring the status of multiple live video streams and transcoding jobs. Further monitoring of a ticket request queue and response to phone support requests from internal client team related to the media transcoding and distribution applications rounds out the expected tasks.
YOUR SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal qualifications:
- 1 year technical experience in I.T. or relevant education
- Ability to participate in a technical discussion on Ethernet networking
- Basic video transcoding skills
- Must be a self-motivated individual who takes pride in delivering high quality work
- Excellent oral communication skills and strong customer service ethic
Nice to have qualifications:
- Hands on experience working with the latest video formats such as MPEG-4, H.264, MPEG2, RTSP, On2VP6, Quicktime and other popular formats would be ideal, however, training on proprietary systems will be provided.
- Ground up software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting, with respect to Windows Networking and Video Encoding.
- Solid communication and troubleshooting skills and an understanding of server farm architecture and server- agent designs.
- Can prioritize customer impacting problems, troubleshoot and fix issues while minimizing the end-user impact.
- Versed in piracy risk and the options around certificate based digital rights management (DRP), watermarking and editing software. Additionally a detailed understanding of CSS and ripping audio and video key.
COMPENSTAION AND BENEFITS
Being a member of team will require participation in a shift rotation. This shift rotation consists of overlapping day shifts as well as overnight and weekend work. Suitable candidates may be eligible for off hours escalation paging duty.
Salary range: $35K per year, plus eligibility to participate in our generous employee profit sharing plan with semi-annual bonuses in the 10-15% range, based on performance.
